Good Shepherd Lutheran College

We're thrilled to be release our newest college website, Good Shepherd Lutheran College. Our role was to create an inspiring website that depicted both the Christian focus of the college and uniqueness of Territorian private school education. Our brief was to not only create visually stunning website, but to ensure that the site could be easily updated by staff and still retain the polished look and feel throughout the life of the site.
The Design
We were lucky enough to be given the scope to take the existing branding of the school to a new level, applying the same colours and brand elements into the design, but modernising it's feel through great use of white space and the introduction some subtle tones throughout the site. Unmissable as you land on the homepage is the large rotating visual banner that showcases great imagery from the school accompanied by headline text, directing the audience to key areas of the site. Upon landing on the site, the school motto "Identity, Service, Respect" transitions in to the header section. Other homepage features includes a dynamic student toolkit, latest news feed, customised prospectus feature and a photo gallery feed.
Features and Functionality
The Good Shepherd website boast a number of highly useful and engaging features and functionality:
- My College Toolkit » The footer of every page features a dynamic toolkit for Students, Parents and Staff, listing key links from within the website and to the college intranet
- Styled news feed and events page » The client has the ability to create news articles and post events
- Customised prospectus » This customised prospectus allows the user to select which extra curricular subjects they would like to receive information on. The system then pulls together professionally designed pdf's together and email it though to the user. Clever huh!
- Photo galleries » Good Shepherd have been using the photo gallery feature to upload images from all their latest events
- Alerts » when required, a large banner on the homepage informs visitors of upcoming events or warnings
Content Management System
The website is build in a content management system called Drupal. Drupal is one of the world's most popular and powerful open source Content Management Systems. It's an intuitive, accessible system that website managers will actually enjoy working with. The content of each page can be edited using a sophisticated but easy to use 'What You See Is What You Get' (WYSIWYG) editor with integrated uploading of images, documents, audio and video.
