Captovate has designed and delivered a world class digital footprint for the Research Institute for the Environment and Livelihoods team within Charles Darwin University. The site is now recognised organisational wide as the best website within the CDU framework. The scope was originally to improve the old system to enable the school to make the relevant changes to accommodate the structural and strategic directions of the new team.
However once Captovate undertook a full scoping exercise it became apparent that the organisation needed a sophisticated back end infrastructure to accommodate their multifaceted, dynamic and complex structures. Similarly as the School is recognised internationally as a leader in its field it became clear they were looking for a world class look and feel which showcased their successes. Our designer developed a modern sophisticated interface and pushed the boundaries of our development team by exploring some unique interactions and interrelationships between the content. The result is a beautiful looking site, but also a highly sophisticated back-end which has resulted in ease of use for the client. The time and attention we took in planning resulted in the site being easy to update by individual researcher, by dynamically displaying content, entered once but fed into different sections within the site. An example of this is allowing individual researcher’s profiles to be dynamically pulled into multiple research groups based on tagging and multiple author functions for resources and blog posts.
