Wilderness School came to Captovate with a strong vision, which was to create a truly inspiring website to front their online communications, demonstrating their core values and uplifting community spirit.
The core purpose of the website is to attract prospective parents to the prestigious private school located in the heart of Adelaide. In doing so, the website content focuses on the values of the school's culture, relationships and teaching. This focus is reinforced by inspiring imagery, movement and interaction on the homepage and creative web design.
The Design
Leveraging off the Wilderness cyan blue, the distinct homepage design underpins the elevated positioning of the school whilst incorporating modern web design, bold imagery and dynamic content.
As the focal point on the homepage, the huge graphic slider demonstrates strong imagery tied in with key messages and the four school values.
With a dynamic promotional banner, newsroom feed and an embedded video on the homepage, the layout is designed to create movement and interaction as soon as the user lands on the website, prompting the user to explore the uniqueness of Wilderness.
Special Features
The website is built utilising the latest web technologies in 'Responsive Web Design'. Creating a website in responsive design means that the interface of the website adjusts automatically depending on the screen size of the user. This enables users on smart phones and tablet devices to view the navigation and content of the website in an optimised format for their device (see graphic).
The website also incorporates other user focussed features:

- A customised school calendar
- Online booking forms
- Google maps integration
- Contact form
- Parent's portal
A key requirements for the website was the need for a user friendly Content Management System (CMS). Captovate implemented a highly customised Drupal CMS with a range of pre-formatted image options for each page, table formatting, font styling and other subtle touches that help differentiate the website, creating a polished and refined touch.
Needless to say, the client (and the team here at Captovate) are really proud of the end product as the website is not only stunning, but effectively serves as a key marketing tool for Wilderness School.
